Seven Important Things You Must do to Ensure that your Citizenship Application is Complete and Accurate.
1. Pre-application preparations:
Ensure that you download the application form and the guidance notes to the application beforehand and start putting together the documents requested in the notes well ahead in preparation for your application.
2. Documentation:
Ensure that copies of your birth certificate, marriage certificate (if applicable) and the bio-data page of your national passport are duly certified. Translated copies of these documents must also be certified.
3. Using the residency calculator:
Ensure that the date used in calculating your residency is the same as the date of the declaration on your application form.
4. Criminal offence:
Ensure that you do not conceal any criminal offence, even if it is minor and provide as much detail in the section provided for additional information on the form so as to ensure that you utilise the opportunity to give your own account of events.
5. Declaration:
Ensure that you complete the declaration page that is relevant to your application and that your spouse completes the relevant declaration section if your application is based on marriage to an Irish citizen. This declaration must only be made before a Notary Public, Commissioner for oaths, Solicitor or a Peace Commisioner.
6. Application Fee:
Ensure that you enclose the application fee of €175.00 made payable in the form of a bank draft or postal order to the Secretary General of the Department of Justice. This fee is non refundable and must accompany every application.

What does the Citizenship Application Support Service offer applicants?
- The project ensures that all applicants who avail of the service meet the legal requirements and fulfil the criteria for the basis of which they are applying to become an Irish Citizen.
- Citizen Application Support Service ensures that applications for Irish Citizenship are correctly completed in line with INIS and Department of Justice and Law Reform guidelines.
- Citizen Application Support Service ensures that all original documentation to support the application as specified on the application form and Notes for Guidance are checked, copied and certified.
- Where applicants are unable to access the services of a solicitor for completing declarations and certifications required in the application process, Citizen Application Support Service assists in this regard.
- Applications and all supporting documentation that are incomplete, incorrect or insufficient will be returned to the applicant during the appointment.
- Applicants will be advised to contact INIS directly for further application or supporting documentation clarification
What the Citizenship Application Support Service CANNOT Offer
- The Citizen Application Support Service is Not a Fast Track Service. It is a checking service only and will not give advice or act for applicants after the point of application.
- Citizen Application Support Service will not act as agents for the applicant and is unable to offer any advice on nationality, or any other advice on other matters such as visas, immigration or asylum.
- Using the Citizen Application Support Service cannot guarantee that applications will be successful. The service is provided by NCP to only check that the application is completed correctly. The consideration of the application is done by trained INIS officials
- Using the Citizen Application Support Service will not help applicants to Jump the Queue. However, using the service increases the likelihood of lodging an application that can be completed without further enquiry.
- Using Citizen Application Support Service is optional. Applicants may continue to apply directly to the Citizenship Section in Tipperary.
How do I apply for Irish citizenship?
- Application forms are available at the website of the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) www.inis.gov.ie please ensure that you obtain the correct application form and guidance notes.
- Complete the application forms in line with the guidance notes.
- Ensure that you have all the documents required to complete the application.
- Contact the CITIZEN APPLICATION SUPPORT SERVICE to make an appointment or drop in to avail of our services on a first come first serve basis.
What happens when I attend to avail of the services of the Citizenship Application Support Service?
- A trained staff of the Citizen Application Support Service will assess whether the applicant meets the criteria to make the citizenship application in line with the eligibility criteria.
- It will be the decision of the applicant whether to go ahead with the application or not but the Citizen Application Support Service will only proceed with an application where an applicant meets the eligibility criteria.
- A trained staff of the Citizen Application Support Service will check each fully completed application forms for completeness and accuracy.
- A form will be provided for any applicant who attends without one.
