Proposed changes to Social Welfare & Pensions Bill 2012 will see by the year 2015 a lone parent lose his/her payment when their youngest child reaches 7 years of age.

If the proposed changes to the Social Welfare & Pensions Bill are passed in May/June 2012, major changes to the One-Parent Family Payment will be introduced by 2015.

  • By 2015, a lone parent will lose his/her payment when their youngest child reaches 7 years of age.
  • Unemployed lone parents will move on to a Jobseekers payment & have to meet 'Genuinely Seeking Work' requirements.
